The function of Industrial Ombudsman for ESA has existed since 2000 to guide industry-to-industry relations in ESA procurements, facilitating appeal cases in ESA “Best Practices” and offering mediation in industrial disputes. 

Since 2009, this has included ESA-to-industry relations to enable independent monitoring within the ESA procurement review mechanism, which also involves investigating procedural breach of ESA procurement regulations.

The aim of the Industrial Ombudsman for ESA is to achieve independence, confidentiality, fairness, transparency, impartiality and non-discrimination.
