This awareness session about sustainability and eco-design in the space sector is aimed at employees working for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). It is intended to raise awareness about the importance of sustainability and environmental footprinting for the supply chain and aims to introduce topics such as eco-design and life cycle thinking. It also introduces ESA's current actions and future expectations with regard to industry. In addition, the webinar presents tips on how to get started and accessible materials which can help industry to become familiar with ecodesign principles.

 

Objectives

The session aims to:

  • Raise awareness amongst ESA suppliers about sustainability and, specifically, environmental footprinting;
  • Highlight the importance of the sustainability topic for business-related purposes;
  • Provide basic practical tips to get started.

1. Introduction to ESA, speakers, agenda and goal of the webinar

2. Global sustainability awareness and focus on the space sector's ambition:

  • Sustainability context/Regulation focus
  • Space sector focus – What ESA is doing

 

3. ESA-specific framework – Now and in the future: How it works today and future expectations

4. How to get started?

  • Focus on existing material
  • Focus on publicly available guidelines/tools/open courses related to Ecodesign
