ESA & Deloitte: Training for Environmental Life-Cycle Assessment for Space Missions
New Opportunity: support to SMEs to attend Environmental Life-cycle assessment and Ecodesign for Space Activities training
Are you working for an SME and interested in complementing your expertise with insights into a vital aspect of future space missions? Then do not hesitate and apply for a place on the "Environmental life-cycle assessment and ecodesign for space activities" course, given by Deloitte and the ESA CleanSpace Team online on 5 - 8 October 2021.
The ESA SME Initiative is offering places to 5 motivated space professionals working for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises registered with ESA free of charge. To find out more about the course, click here. SME applicants interested in this opportunity are invited to submit their application via the ESA Learning Hub by 17 September. Should there be a high level of interest, a waiting list for a second dedicated SME edition might be established.
Who can apply?
In order to participate, you must fulfil the following criteria at the time of application:
- Work as a professional in relevant engineering or space-related topics, or as a PHD student in a university
- Be a citizen of an ESA Member State, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania or Slovenia
- Have a basic knowledge of space system design or have a basic knowledge of life-cycle assessment
Participants are expected to attend the entire training course which will be delivered online.
Day 1 Climate Collage: Understand the casual relationships between human activities and environmental phenomena linked to the climate
Day 2 Key environmental challenges and approaches to address them: Have an overview of the environmental challenges faced by our societies and understand how they responded and which approaches are put in place to address those challenges
Day 3 Life Cycle Assessment of space systems: Understand the key principles of Life Cycle Thinking, why LCA is useful and how it can be applied in the space sector
Day 4 Ecodesign of space systems: Understand what ecodesign is, why it is useful to businesses and how it can be deployed in the space sector
