ECOS 6 training sessions
We are planning two 1-day on-site training sessions dedicated to SMEs and Midcaps at ESTEC on 3 February and another on 4 February. Both days will cover the same material, so only plan to be on site for one of the days.
To do business with companies, ESA has developed a procedure and an associated ESA Costing Software tool called ECOS for aggregating and calculating the price elements of the financial proposals through the entire contractual chain.
By using ECOS, the price proposal work is partitioned through the industrial structure, and the proposals are generated and integrated to higher levels electronically.
The information presented conforms to the ESA standard costing and pricing requirements introduced in the ESA Conditions to Tender, and represented by the ESA Price Breakdown Forms (PBF) which replace Procedures, Standards and Specifications (PSS Forms).
From 30 March 2026, the use of ECOS 6 is mandatory for all activities.
If you would like more training content in a written form, specially for contract and bid managers, please visit the Help section in esa-star ECOS.
More information about the ECOS Community and contact info can be found on the ECOS page.
This course is free of charge. Participants are expected to cover their own travel, meal and accommodation costs.
If you need more information about ESA/ESTEC, please feel free to use this practical guide.
Participants are encouraged to:
- Bring their own laptop to follow the practical exercises.
- Be registered as Bid or Contract Manager in esa-star Registration for their entity, at least 24 hours before the training course, to have access to ECOS.
Same for both days (subject to change):
09:00 Meet-up at Security Gate
09:30 Roundtable and general presentation about ECOS
10:00 Use case with ECOS 6: how to create a proposal from scratch (how to access ECOS, create a Rate Form/WBS, manage subcontractors, and submit a proposal to ESA). Each participant will follow the exercise on their own computer.
13:30 Lunch break
14:30 Presentation of upcoming updates and new features
15:00 Q&A and feedback session (participants can ask questions, provide feedback and suggest improvements for future releases)
16:00 End of session
If you cannot take part in the course, please inform the organisers at your earliest convenience at ecos.community@esa.int.
This session will not be recorded.
