ECOS self-training
To do business with entities, ESA has developed a procedure and an associated ESA Costing Software tool called ECOS for aggregating and calculating the price elements of a financial proposals through the entire contractual chain.
This e-learning module provides access to the ECOS self-training manual and the associated training support files, through a Video training.
ECOS 6, the new version of ECOS is under implementation. Online trainings will be offered free of charge to all companies doing business with ESA.
The ECOS self-training manual has been developed to allow ECOS users to get familiar with software version ECOS 5.3. It is based on a series of hands-on exercises that will allow users to progressively get familiar with the most used features of the application software.
After one day of training, users should be able to:
- configure their own environment;
- enter all data related to financial offers and handled by ECOS;
- define and send ITT files to sub-contractors;
- select/integrate Tender files received from sub-contractors to prepare an Integrated Tender to be sent to the upper tier.

Quick Start
If you are a first time user of ECOS or if you have not used the software often in the past, it is recommended to:
1. Read the ECOS PRESENTATIONS first - they will give you a basic introduction to the environment
2. Install the latest version of the SOFTWARE
Software
ECOS is reserved for ESA bidders. Before you can use ECOS, your entity must register as an ESA bidder in esa-star Registration.
The software is distributed to companies doing business with ESA free of charge.
Install ECOS on your computer
1. Get your 10-digit ESA Entity Code (from esa-star Registration)
Basic ECOS Features
Consistency: Ensures consistency of data and guarantees the total price aggregation including in highly complex industrial team structures cases.
ESA PSS-A Creation: Enables automatic printing of ESA PSS-A forms conformal to ESA requirements.

Quick Guidelines
The below Quick Guides address the most frequently asked questions from Users on “How to do” things within the frame of ECOS.
The Guides are intended to support ECOS users in using the software for producing all financial details of their proposals in the context of specific procurement processes.
The documents provide tips and advice about how to perform certain actions in the system.
To complement the initial self-training you are invited to watch these 9 video tutorials and learn step by step how to build your cost proposal in ECOS:
