Description
The course will cover:
- Mission and mechanism specific requirements.
- Mechanism definition, requirements and development approach.
- Mechanism technologies and design rules for lubrication and tribology, thermal control, mechanical design and sizing, electrical and electronic, control loop design.
- Mechanism verification.
For this objective, the following standard must be considered: ECSS-E-ST-33-01C Space Engineering: Mechanisms.
The content of the course will include:
- General introduction about Mechanism definition and interfaces / interactions of mechanisms with other disciplines: thermal control, structures, functional operations, materials and parts, propulsion, electrical and electronics, and servo control interactions.
- Definition of mechanisms specific terms.
- Mission requirements and design requirements for mechanisms.
- Development approach and models.
- Reliability requirements.
- Mechanism design requirements: Tribology, Thermal control, Mechanical design and sizing, Pyrotechnics, Electrical and electronic, control loop design.
- Materials and lubrication.
- Functional dimensioning requirement (Force/Torque Margin).
- Mechanism verification by test & analysis.
- Life test and associated requirements.
- Mechanism development and support documentation.
Objectives
The objective of the course is to present the main requirements in the ECSS E-33 discipline for design, sizing, manufacturing, and verification of mechanisms.
