The course will provide the attendees with a basic awareness of necessary engineering activities, decision criteria for component selection, the identification of general risk areas, information resources and where to find expert support.
The content of the course will include the scope and coverage of the ECSS Q-60 discipline, the context and relevance of normative references and EEE component qualification systems (ESCC, MIL, JAXA), the concept of pre-tailoring as manifested in the definition of 3 classes, Component Programme Management activities, Manufacturer and Component Selection, Parts Approval and Procurement, the differentiation of quality levels, the significance of Radiation Hardness Assurance, the treatment of non-standard components, specialist support needed and available.
