EEE Components Procurement: different cost areas and their relevance (November 2024)
The course aims to develop the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to acquire a good understanding of the pitfalls associated with the procurement of Electrical, Electromechanical and Electronic (EEE) components and associated costs. It will highlight the kind of impact EEE procurement can have on an initially foreseen project budget and schedule.
Costs related to the definition, procurement and acquisition of EEE parts, as well as the intensive test requirements to be qualified for aerospace use, before being launched as part of a spacecraft, need to be carefully accounted for and considered in early project phases. Project success can depend on the proper execution of these tasks.
Participants will acquire a good understanding of the pitfalls associated with the procurement of Electrical, Electromechanical and Electronic (EEE) components and associated costs.
The course will be divided into theoretical and practical sessions.
The theoretical sessions will provide the theoretical basis to be able to carry out an assessment of the different cost areas that need to be considered when working on a project.
In the practical sessions, the trainees will be asked to identify the different cost areas that need to be taken into consideration for different given examples.
The course will cover the following areas:
- Satellite Classes
- Areas with impact on Cost
- Product Assurance and Project Requirements
- Space Standards
- Class Levels Differences
- Model Definition
- Costs Concepts
- Parts Procurement and Control Plan (PPCP)
- Assessment of PPCP Requirements – Cost Impact and Practical Sessions
- Inspections and testing
- Other Expenses Sources
- Costs Examples and Trade-Offs
- Re-design costs
- Budget constrains
- New Space
