This is the second lecture in a series of nine online sessions about Intellectual Property (IP) and patents, strategic tools to be taken into consideration in a company's business decisions and strategy. The sessions will run in the November + December 2022 time frame.

In this webinar, the instructors will go through the legal framework applying to non-personal data and how it influences the way we can exploit them along with how we can legally protect them. They will also go through common terms and conditions used in Data Use Agreements.

 

Objectives

This session aims at:

  • Giving a basic understanding of legal framework applying to non-personal data
  • Determining the most suitable form of protection of the data generated and their exploitation
  • Key aspects of Data Use Agreements

 

Outline

The course aims at providing a general overlook on the topic of non-personal data and covers the following sections:

  • The ecosystem of non-personal data
  • Legal framework: which kind of asset are data, which are the legal rights applying to them; specific issues concerning the use of data generated in EU funded projects
  • The legal concept of data-base, trade secret and other rights in databases; choosing the best way to protect data and to exploit them
  • Most relevant aspects of Data Use Agreements
