This is the fourth lecture in a series of nine online sessions about Intellectual Property (IP) and patents, strategic tools to be taken into consideration in a company's business decisions and strategy. The sessions will run in the November + December 2022 time frame.

In this session, instructors will explain the various options available to obtaining patents throughout the world. The lecture will explain what options are available and the various pros and cons of each route. We will explore typical patent filing strategies, how you make a decision on your own strategy and outline costs. We will also explore timelines.

Target Group

Companies wishing to understand the patenting process and how they or their competitors can obtain patents in specific countries.

 

Objectives

To provide attendees with an understanding of how they can protect their technologies in specific countries around the world using the patenting process.  We will aim to explain how the Paris Convention allows patents to retain a priority date and also the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) which allows for international patent applications. We will also destroy some myths about patents and provide attendees with the tools they need to form a patent strategy for their business.
